The stunningly powerful, inboard engined RIB is known for its tremendous ability to maintain high speeds in heavy conditions, outlined recently when she won her class in the Round Britain Race also breaking the record for the fastest RIB around Britain, reaching incredible top speeds of 78 knots.

Hand built by the Norwegian team at Goldfish AS, the 36 incorporates industry leading design features, whilst being built with super tough Hypalon tubes and a lightweight glass fibre and carbon fibre hull to ensure her long term durability and value. Originally designed for the Norwegian Special Forces as a key weapon to combat pirates in the Gulf of Aden as part of the EU’s Operation Atlanta, there was a natural progression into racing due to her breathtaking speed and stability. The Goldfish 36 is now launched into the leisure market, providing an exceptionally fast and eye catching RIB which can be configured to meet the owner’s specific requirements.

The design of the Goldfish 36 incorporates superb attention to detail throughout allowing for continued high class performance even in the toughest of conditions. The central consol lets the driver stay in control of all aspects of the boat with ease, and along with the RIB’s 4 shock absorbing seats, helps ensure the comfort and safety of its passengers. Elevating the boats windscreen will allow the passengers to access the below deck area, which can be fitted for storage or overnight accommodation.

The unique hull design of the Goldfish 36 is particularly impressive, the hull’s low angle of attack and de-compressing zones allow for incredible handling and manoeuvring capabilities, whilst achieving top speeds of between 70 and 80 knots.

The RIB can be supplied in various configurations including leisure, commercial, military and also as a super yacht tender. There is a great deal of customisation available with both diesel and petrol engine’s available, and new boat owners can even choose their own personal colour scheme.

The Goldfish RIB range includes the 25’, 29’, 30’ and the new 36’, with the 36’ and the 29’ being displayed in the PSP Southampton Boat Show Marina berths 305 and 530.

Later this year, one of the largest marine finance lenders in Europe is planning on moving into the UK market which is good news for all prospective yacht and boat owners. In the last twelve months the boat finance industry has seen many companies withdraw from the market, both here and in Europe, and covering all aspects of boat finance, from leasing finance to simple marine mortgages, so this is really good news for the boat market in general. The company concerned will be backed by Societe Generale, a household name in Europe, but less well known in the UK, and the company will officially be launched at the Southampton boat show later next month.

Given the size of Societe Generale as a banking giant, boating finance rates are expected to be extremely competitive, and will certainly fill the void left by Bank of Scotland which withdrew from the marine finance sector earlier this year, with Lombard picking up much of the business as a result. Naturally if you would like a quote for your boat finance from one of the many marine lenders that we deal with, then simply click on the link here for a competitive online quote, and naturally as we receive furthr news on any special discounts or introductory offers for boat finance from the new lender we will post the details here as soon as possible. If you would like a quote for boat finance lease just follow the links in the sidebar to the relevant site for a quick online marine finance quote.

Saga boat insurance has recently released the top ten reasons why boat owners claim from their boat insurance brokers, and topping the list for UK boat owners ( as well as other owners around the world) is hitting a submerged object during cruising. Hardly a great surprise, and not an accident or claim that can easily be avoided, unlike the second which was theft, and the company has recently advised all its policy holders to secure valuables both when on board and when the yacht is secured overnight or for longer periods. Top of the list for thieves is wet weather gear, GPS navigation equipment, and valuable personal items, all of which should be stored securely or removed from the boat for longer periods, and the most popular period is during the summer months. In addition curtains should be closed when the boat is moored, and life rafts, tenders and motors should be secured with good quality locks. Believe it or not there is also a market for copper and bronze, another target for thieves, so again, bells, plaques, etc should be removed where the boat is lying up for any period of time.

The third most common claim for boat insurance is a collision with another boat, closely followed by storm damage and theft while in storage, while flooding and sinking took up the sixth and seventh positions on the top ten list. The remaining top ten claims were taken with fire, accidental damage and owner negilgence. Naturally whilst your boat insurance policy will cover you for most claims, there is always a duty of care to ensure that you have take all reasonable precautions to avoid making a claim, and the old addage always applies – make sure you read the small print on your boat insurance quotes, before signing on the dotted line!
